Term Four Network Meeting - Whole State

Description

Associate Professor Jenny Cartmel: What is relational pedagogy?

This focussed conversation will critically reflect on the skills and understandings educators require to connect to children and young people.  The EYLF and MTOP emphasise the centrality of secure, respectful relationships, however it has been highlighted that educators need to think otherwise. Concepts such as affirming children’s cultural, linguistic, and social identities; connections with children are the result of teaching, learning and play being blended; and safe and trusting spaces need to be created for children and their families. These concepts extend beyond supporting emotional behaviours but what does it look like in practice?  Join the conversation.
